Church Histories published in 1915

These are the church histories for Moland, Our Saviour's, and Concordia as provided to O. M. Norlie for his book Norsk Lutherske Prester i America published in 1915.  Some of the dates given contradict other sources, but these submissions provided an insight into Concordia during its earliest days.

Moland, Norwegian-Danish Conference, Glyndon

Associated with Conference of Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1871-1890; United Norwegian Lutheran Church in America, 1890-1892.

Organized in 1871.  Disbanded in 1892(?).  60 souls in 1872, 138 in 1891. 

Pastors: B L Hagboe, 1871-1874; P A T Nykreim, 1875-1878; C I Wold, 1878-1883; J H Brønøn, 1884-1892.  Elected office holder in 1882: G. Lee

 

Our Savior's Congregation

Glynden, 1873, Glyndon, Moland, 1874

Associated with the Synod of the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 1873-1884; Antimissouri, 1884-1890; United Norwegian Lutheran Church in America, 1890-current.

Organized in 1873. 22 souls in 1873, 215 in 1886, 283 in 1891.

Church built in 1883 at a cost of $6,000. Parsonage built in 1898 at a cost of $2,500.  Cemetery of 3 acres, $300.  4 acres of land surrounding the church, $400.

Concordia Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church

Moorhead (11 miles northwest) Clay County MN

Associated with the United Norwegian Lutheran Church in America, 1892-current.  400 souls in 1892, 350 in 1914.

Pastors: A. A. Øfstedal, 1892-1897; R. Bogstad, G. A. Larsen, 1897-1898; H. B. Kildahl, 1898-1900; L. M. Skunes, 1900-1904; B. G. Bondahl, 1904-1908; N. F. Kile, 1908-current.

Officeholders in 1892: b:T. J. Holte; c: Jørgen Jenson; d: G. C. Svenkeson, T. J. Holte, Ole Thortvedt; e: Peter Tufton, A. H. Breiland; Salve O. Lee, Jorgen Jenson, G. C.
