John the Baptist

John the Baptist was a cousin of the Lord,

He was sent by God to prepare the way,

Telling all the people to repent,

"You should come back and be ready for the Lord."

At the River Jordan, Jesus came one day,

John the Baptist hardly knew what to say,

John baptized Jesus, and God sent a dove,

"My beloved Son has come down from above."
