The Parable of Lazarus

Lazarus was a very poor man who would sit at the gates of a mansion and hope that someone would send out the scraps from the rich man's table.  The rich man thought Lazarus was an eyesore and didn't want him fed and really wanted him removed from the street in front of his house. The only comfort Lazarus received was from the stray dogs that would lick the sores on his skin.
When Lazarus died, he was carried to heaven by Abraham where he finally felt healthy and found peace. When the rich man died, he received premium accommodations in hell.  He looked up and saw Abraham cradling Lazarus and asked him to send Lazarus down with some cool water because it was so hot and the rich man was very thirsty. The rich man still thought people should wait on him!
Abraham told him that wasn't possible because people in heaven were not allowed to visit hell, and those in hell could never visit heaven.  The rich man had earned his misery, and he would just have to deal with it himself.
The rich man then begged Abraham to send Lazarus to his sons to warn them what awaited them when they died.  Abraham said no.  He said that if the rich man's sons wouldn't listen to Moses and the Prophets, a visit from someone raised from the dead wouldn't change anything.
