"Here I Stand" Banner Project

"Here I Stand" Banner

When Luther said, "Here I stand" he was telling the world that he was committed to his Lord, his faith, and his interpretation of Scripture, no matter what the Catholic Church decided. It was a very brave thing for him to do, and it is important to remember his courage when we face difficult times, too.

WHAT YOU NEED

              plus

  • scissors
  • iron & ironing board
  • glue

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Select the image(s) you'd like to use on your banner. Follow instructions provided with the iron-on transfer paper to print them. Carefully cut each image out.

To print multiple images on each sheet of transfer paper:  Save the images you want to use on your computer (right click on the image and select "Save image/picture as"). Open a word processing document and insert the images that will be used. Print the page on the transfer sheet.

2.  Iron the images into place on your banner. Carefully fold the material down 1" at the top and iron the fold.  (The fold is on the back side of the banner).

3.  Place the phrase "Here I Stand" on the front of the banner.

4.  Create the channel for the dowel by placing a bead of glue along the top edge of the backside of the banner. Fold and use your fingers to press into place.

5.  Slide the dowel into place.

5.  Use yarn or raffea to create the hangar.

Variations: Add glitter, ribbon or other craft materials to outline or decorate the banner.
