Rooster Crafts

When Jesus told Peter that he would deny him three times before the rooster crowed, Peter didn't believe Jesus.  After Jesus' arrest, that was exactly what happened.  These three rooster projects can help you remember how easy it is to bear false witness, and how sad Peter was when Jesus' prediction came true.

WHAT YOU NEED

                                            plus

  • scissor
  • glue stick
  • craft scissors
  • marker or crayons

WHAT YOU NEED

  • One long safety pin (14 safety pins should fit on the pin)

  • white, brown, yellow, black, and red beads

  • 14 short safety pins (10 beads should fit on each pin)

  • Rooster Pin pattern

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Each rooster shadow picture requires two pieces of construction paper.   Decide what colors to use for the rooster and the background.

 1. Print desired pattern on chosen colored paper.

2a. The simple rooster pattern is designed especially for younger students. Fold the pattern in half (landscape).

2b. The more intricate pattern is for older students. The pattern should be folded in half (portrait).

3 Cut our rooster (do not cut on the fold line!)

 3. Flatten the pattern and glue it onto the background paper.

 4. Use craft scissors to cut out one of the printed verses and glue to background, or write "Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.   Luke 22:61" with a marker or crayon on the background.

Put your shadow picture on your wall so it can remind you to think about the eighth commandment and the story of Peter's false witness of Jesus.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1.Use the pattern above or print individual copies of the rooster pin pattern.

 2. Feed beads as shown on pattern onto each of 14 smaller safety pins.  The first pin will have one white bead, 4 brown beads, and 5 white beads.  The second, two white beads, 4 brown beads, 4 white beads, etc. Pin 14 will have 2 white beads, one yellow bead, and 7 white beads.

 3. As each small pin is completed, close the pin and put it on the larger pin as shown in the sample. When all 14 small pins are complete and in place, pin the large pin on your shirt.

When people ask about your pin, tell them the story of Peter!

Variation:  If more than 10 beads are required to fill the short safety pins, use the same number of green beads to complete each row.
