Deep in the Desert
Jesus was wandering
Deep in the desert,
For 40 days, he was
all alone,
Jesus was hungry,
Jesus was thirsty,
The greatest test
he'd ever known.
Jesus was tempted
Deep in the desert,
To make selfish use
of God's holy power.
Jesus said, "No I
won't,"
Jesus said, "Go
away,"
The devil did not win
the hour.
Satan was vanquished
Deep in the desert,
Just as he would be
on Easter morn,
Jesus victorious,
Eternal life
glorious,
Purchased for us with
a crown of thorns.
Heavenly Father,
Jesus, Holy Spirit,
Give us each the
strength to accept your Grace,
To reject the easy
path,
Hold fast to God's
great truths,
Bring peace to all
the human race.
